Yuzu Sencha - Organic green tea with Yuzu flavor
Description
Developed on the rich volcanic soils of the hills in Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyūshū Island, Japan's southernmost island, this sencha is the basis of a refreshing and unique green tea.
The spring harvest results in a mild, wonderfully aromatic tea with a nuanced, delicate sweetness. Our yuzu sencha is a balanced blend of the distinctive Yabukita and the rare Kanayamidori variety. The vibrant, emerald green needle-shaped tea leaves create a delicate, light green infusion in the cup.
The aromatic, fresh character of the very fine sencha harmonises perfectly with the citrus nuances of the yuzu fruit. The trend of combining high-quality green teas with the products of traditional Japanese cuisine has been evident in Japan for some time.
Originating in East Asia and known for thousands of years, the yuzu citrus fruit is a combination of Ichang lemon and wild mandarin. Long considered a classic ingredient in Japanese cuisine, yuzu is characterised by highly complex citrus notes and a pleasant floral aroma. Its taste is reminiscent of a blend of lime, lemon and tangerine, with umami sweetness and a pleasant hint of bitterness.
